“God Was Here, But He Left Early”

Jesus lived on earth for a very short time. His ministry comforted the afflicted and afflicted the comfortable. Jesus’ words and actions were threatening to those who wanted Him silenced. The 23rd Psalm was written to testify to a caring God. Do you believe in a God who cares for His children and provides for their needs? We have a tendency to reveal our atheism, our lack of faith in a caring God in several ways.

We seem inadequate to handle the stresses and strains of life. We easily become morally confused and we allow fear to dominate our attitude toward life. Many people today are anxious because they do not put their faith and trust in Jesus. Is God still present for you? Have you sold out to the way of the world? God is still here and God wants to meet your innermost needs.

Sunday we will approach God’s throne of grace and receive a blessing. We hope you are here to reflect, relate, and reclaim your relationship to a living God who cares about you.

                                                Blessings,

Special Odyssey For April
The Faithful Men from Fairview UMC are sponsoring the Cumberland County Playhouse production of “First Baptist of Ivy Gap” on Thursday evening, April 24, at Fairview. We have reserved 20 tickets for this play. They are $25 each. The play begins at 7:30 with the doors opening at 6:30. We will leave the church at 6:15 and return to the church following the play. Your ticket will be reserved when payment is received and is non-refundable. If you don’t drive after dark, call Judy, 982-6192, to work out arrangements.

Join us as we “meet the women of a small town Tennessee Baptist church during WWII and again a generation later. This wonderful comedy has heart and drama and features ‘six of the most wonderful characters’ you’ll ever meet!” This was first presented at the playhouse last season and was held over and sold out.

Mexico Luncheon Planned
Hope Bruce will be traveling with Rev. Jim Dougherty, May 6 - 12, as part of the Mexico Medical Mission Team. The Chancel Choir will host a luncheon immediately following the 10:30 worship service on Sunday, April 13, in the W. R. Allen Hall to help Hope with her expenses. The menu will include tacos, rice, beans, nachos, and assorted desserts. Donations will be accepted. Reservation forms will be in the bulletin or you may call the church office, 982-6192.

Broadway UMC 16 Day  Western Odyssey
August 8-23, 2008
This Odyssey is planned and operated by Knoxville Tours and will be lead by Ron and Pat Matthews. You will want to bring your camera, and plenty of film and extra batteries to record the sights of your trip that will delight your family and friends and awaken wonderful memories of your never-to-be-forgotten Odyssey.

On day 8 we turn north and leave the state of Utah behind as we enter the “Land of the Cowboy”, Wyoming. Our stop will be in the Grand Teton and Jackson area. We will see the majestic mountain scenery of the Grand Tetons with peaks that rise to heights of over 7,000 feet above the valley floor. That night we will get a taste of the Old West - Bar-T-Five style. We travel by horse drawn covered wagons from Jackson into beautiful Cashe Creek Canyon for a cowboy styled dinner in the air. Following dinner we will be entertained by the wranglers.

For a full itinerary and tour reservation form, contact Judy in the church office or Bill Teffeteller at 579-9302. If you have any questions, call Bill.
