“Resurrection
Reality”
Easter is a time to celebrate what God has done in
bringing Jesus back from the dead. I have heard some people say that is
all a myth, when we die we are gone. Even in Acts we see the Sadducees
having Peter and John arrested because they are teaching the people that
in Jesus there is resurrection of the dead. Jesus raised Lazarus from
the tomb of death. Now Jesus himself is found to be alive, after He was
crucified, dead and buried.
Are you ready to celebrate Easter? God has intervened and broken the
boundaries and logic of sin and death. Jesus died on the cross, but the
grave could not hold Him. God who gives us life, renewed the life by
granting everlasting and eternal life. Do you care about what God has
done for you? The devil has been defeated. God has kept His promise to
give us life. Come and celebrate with us. Come and rejoice in the
Christian hope and promise of Easter.
In Christ,

White
Elephant Sale Is Coming!
April 14, 8:00-1:00
One of the youth’s favorite events is coming! This event is a great service
project for our church members as they get to clear out those closets, garages
or houses and we, the Youth, get to benefit from selling all these gifts. It’s a
lot of work, a lot of fun, and a fantastic way to share our mission with our
community.
Proceeds from this sale will go to support our Relay for Life Team. April 12 and
13, 5:00-7:00ish will be set up days. April 14, 8:00-1:00 will be the sale. We
will need youth and parents to help make this a success!! There will be a
sign-up sheet in the youth room to reserve your space to work.

“A True Resurrection"
Celebrate Easter with
Word, Music, and Ritual
Easter Sunday morning’s 10:30am worship service begins
with Gail Hafner playing John Ferguson’s “Up From the Grave He Arose” at
the organ followed by the Chancel Choir joining the Epworth Bells for
the Call to Worship, “Sing This Happy Morning” by Joel Raney. For the
Offertory, the Epworth Bells ring “Risen, Hallelujah,” an arrangement of
traditional Easter melodies by Douglas Wagner. The Broadway Brass joins
the Epworth Bells, Chancel Choir, and organ for Allen Pote’s rousing
“Risen Alleluia!” filled with energy and incorporating the Easter hymn,
Lyra Davidica (“The Strife Is O’er”). The morning’s celebration ends
with the choir singing “Hallelujah” from Handel’s MESSIAH. Music
combined with the Word and ritual will make this Easter one to remember.
The Broadway Brass features three Broadway UMC players: Emma Wright –
French Horn, Erin Bruce – Trumpet, and Andrew Boyd – Tuba.
Easter Egg Hunt

Take A Hike!
The United Methodist Men are sponsoring a church-wide
hike into Whiteoak Sinks on Saturday, April 21. We’ll meet at the church
at 8:30 and carpool to the Smokies. Bob Hayes will be leading this hike
which takes us 2 miles up the Schoolhouse Gap trail, then down into
Whiteoak Sinks where we’ll see a couple of caves, a gravesite, beautiful
wildflowers, and a unique waterfall which disappears into a cave behind
it. We’ll climb out of Whiteoak Sinks and intersect the Schoolhouse Gap
trail a mile from our cars. The 4-mile hike requires some climbing. Be
sure to wear comfortable shoes. Some of us plan to eat at the Riverstone
Restaurant in Townsend after the hike. You may prefer to make other
arrangements.
Please e-mail Bob Hayes, rajah819@aol.com, if you want to go on the hike
and also indicate if you’d like to eat at the Riverstone so we can give
the restaurant some idea of how many to expect. Join us for a good time.
Summer Trip to Amish Country and Lancaster Play
Plan to enjoy a day in the Amish country in Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania, and see a play at the Millennium Theatre in Ronks.
The trip is planned for Tuesday, June 26, through Thursday, June 28. The
group will spend the morning and early afternoon at the Kitchen Kettle,
an Amish historical area in Intercourse, PA, where shopping abounds and
museums of Amish life thrive. There is a quilting museum across from the
visitors’ center and plenty of food sampling centers to make quite a
lunch. One could even take a buggy ride with an Amish family. In the
afternoon, we will go to the Sight and Sound Theatre to see “In the
Beginning,” a musical play about God’s creation of the world. Following
the show, the group will eat a sumptuous feast at the Bird-in-Hand
Restaurant.
The cost of the trip is $240 including room, show tickets, feast, and
gas (for the bus!). Make your reservations with a $50 deposit though
Judy in the church office at 982-6192. The deadline for reservations is
May 25. Seats on the bus are available on a first-come-first-served
basis.
