I am so thankful for the gift of Jesus Christ and the Resurrection! Amazing love, Amazing grace, Amazing power... It’s all simply amazing! I was personally challenged, inspired and strengthened in the sermon series on the Lord’s Prayer throughout our Lenten journey. I hope the new insights, intentionality and time together in this study and with this “simple, but not easy” prayer continue to grow and take root in us in each of us. “So be it!”
I’m thankful that Easter is not just a big day of celebration, though it was that! Easter is a season. For the next 50 days (until Pentecost) we will live in the Season of Easter. This is the time when we focus on the power of the resurrection and the transformation that comes because of it. In Holston Conference, we are following the words of the late, great United Methodist evangelist Harry Denman in these days as this year we observe “50 Golden Days of Evangelism.”
You will soon receive (if you haven’t already) a letter to your home. Please take the time to carefully read about Broadway’s plans of how we will be a part of this exciting time in the life of Holston Conference! Mark your calendars now for Sunday, May 23rd - Pentecost Sunday. We will celebrate worship as a combined congregation that day worshiping at 10 a.m. and after worship having a church picnic at Louisville Point Park. We are praying that at that time, there will be some folks who will chose to step out and receive the gift of baptism and enter into a new life of discipleship.
At Broadway we do so many things so very well! This is a passionate, joyful, bold community of faith. I am proud to be a part of Broadway and the pastor here. Focusing in on our understanding of and living out Faith-sharing allows us to take the next step, as a church, into the mission of the United Methodist Church - ‘to make disciples for the transformation of the world!” Won’t you join me?
See you Sunday!
Shalom,

Broadway was able to send money to purchase 3 solar
stoves at $120 each. What a wonderful gift! If you have gone online to
see the kind of stove we purchased, you realize that one stove could
possibly help to feed an entire village. When one or two women may be
taking care of 20 or more orphaned children as well as their own, a
solar stove will have a huge impact on the stability of the family
group. Thank you, Broadway, for making a difference in the lives of
people you will never know. Thanks to all the Sunday school groups who participated in the Parcel Post Auction in Willow, Alaska. Broadway sent at least 6 or 7 packages to be auctioned off by our missionary, Fran Lynch. The auction itself is a fund-raiser for the Willow Community Food Bank, transportation assistance, and heating fuel. But the auction is much more than that. It gets people out of their homes and socializing during the long dark months of winter. The community is growing, and the outreach of the Methodist Church is growing as well. They are beginning a book mobile program which also provides lunches for school children during the summer months. And they are reaching out to home-schooled children, who are particularly isolated from others their own age. The Parcel Post Auction brings together people who often don’t know each other even though they live in the same community. |

April - Allergies |
|
“I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me.” Psalm 69:29 NIV
There are three categories of allergic reactions. Mild
reactions are localized and include a rash, watery or itchy eyes, and
congestion. Moderate reactions can spread beyond the original site of irritation
and cause severe itching and difficulty breathing. The worst reaction,
anaphylaxis, affects the whole body and is rare but life-threatening. Within
minutes severe swelling will make breathing and swallowing difficult, and may
include abdominal pain, vomiting, and mental confusion. Persons severely
allergic to bees, shellfish, or peanuts should carry a dose of epinephrine to
quickly reverse this reaction. Prepared by: Jill Fox, RN, Faith Community Nurse |
