“In God’s Hands”
Scripture tells us that no one can be snatched out of the Father’s hand or the hand of Jesus. If we are considered to be one of God’s flock, then we will be in the protection of God’s hands. God cares about us. This is a scripture of encouragement. We are surrounded with the providence of God’s love and power. Do you feel secure?

We live in a world of insecurity. Terrorism, religious fanaticism and individualized spirituality are evident. There is so much today that tries to trap us and place us under it’s control. The relationship we find with Christ and in community is so vital to our Christian faith. We invite you to come and receive a blessing in worship. We will be installing church officers and pledging ourselves to further Christian service under the protection and guidance of realizing we are in the hands of God. We hope to see you Sunday.

                                                Blessings,

Odyssey Goes Out To Dinner     Our January Odyssey outing will be Thursday, January 24. We will meet at the church at 5:15 and travel up the street to Sullivan’s for dinner at 5:30. By meeting at the church we can carpool to help with parking or walk if the weather is nice. Reservations must be made and into the church office by 9:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24. We have the balcony area reserved and there isn’t an elevator.

Bereavement Committee Volunteers
We are beginning a new year for the Bereavement Committee. We are keeping our list of dedicated volunteers for preparing food and serving meals for families at the death of a church member. If anyone who was not signed up previously and would like to be, or someone who was on the list and would not be available to volunteer anymore, please contact Jan Cooper at 983-6979 or Gerri Bradley at 977-8772. Call Gerri for more information, if needed.

We thank all the volunteers who, in the past year, gave their time, service, and expertise in preparing food or serving the meal for the relatives of our departed members.

January 18-20 Resurrection 2008!
This is one of the largest gatherings of Holston Conference Youth for the year. It is also a great time for Christ to move in the hearts of our youth. Please pray for our group. We will be taking 28 youth and 9 adults on the retreat. Pray for everyone to have a safe time; pray for the Holy Spirit to move in our youth and leaders. The theme this year is “The Radical Way” using I Timothy 4:11-12. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” Thanks for your prayers and support of our youth!

We extend our sincere love and Christian sympathy to Eric Waters and family on the death of his grandmother, Mary Waters.

Sign-Up For Supper Clubs
It’s that time of year again - it’s time to sign up for Broadway’s Supper Club. This is an adults only group for singles or couples who meet once a month in someone’s home for brunch, lunch or dinner or at a restaurant - whatever works best for your group. It’s a wonderful way to make new friends and get to know other members of our Broadway family. We will have sign up sheets in the bulletin on January 13 and 20. Everyone who signs up is invited to come and meet your group at a potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23. You will be seated with your group to get acquainted and plan your get-togethers. Looking forward to seeing everyone with covered dishes and calendars in hand on 1/23. If you have any questions, please call Debbie Taylor at 983-8221 or Barbara Tiller at 981-9006.

Older Adult Ministry

Broadway UMC has formed the Golden Council whose job is to work with our Older Adult Ministry. The council has put together a survey which they would like all senior adults (65 and older) to fill out.

Participating in the survey is an excellent opportunity to provide feedback to the church on what it is doing well and where it needs to make improvements. Your responses will help form the Golden Council’s policies and practices going forward.

The survey will be done by members of the council or other volunteers as needed. We will be doing the survey in person to answer any questions you might have on any particular issues .

Thank you for your consideration in this survey request. If you have any questions at this time, contact Bill Teffeteller at 579-9302 or Bob Ergenbright at 982-6192.
