Wise
Guys Or Wise Men?”
After Christmas we enter a season known as Epiphany.
Jesus is proclaimed to be the light of the world. We are to be bearers
of his light as well. Are you reflecting the light of Christ Jesus to a
world in need? During Epiphany we celebrate the coming of the Wise Men
to the stable of Christ’s birth. They brought gifts that were fit for a
king. Jesus was the Promised Messiah. The star shone bright leading the
Wise Men to the place of Jesus’ birth. They responded, and went to see
the newborn. Would you have gone?
Which are you - a wise guy or gal or one who realizes there is something
beyond our control and desire? Do you belong to God, or can you do
everything on your own? Surrender your heart to the Power of God and see
that which has come to pass. Come and bring your gifts to the throne of
Jesus. See you Sunday.
In Christ,

CAN
Sunday This Week
Sunday, January 7, we will start the new year with CAN
Sunday. This is the time each month when we bring non-perishable items
to worship to share with our less fortunate neighbors in Blount County.
We then take the items to either the Blount County Food Pantry or the
Food Connection. Items needed include corn meal, sugar, flour, cereal,
canned fruits, vegetables and meat, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna,
paper products and baby food. Please be generous.
Installation Of Church Officers
This Sunday morning at the 10:30 worship service we will
have the installation of church officers. UMW, UMM leaders, and members
of the Church Council and the Administrative Board are encouraged to be
here.
Children’s Ministry Workshop
Do you have a heart for children or maybe you just want
to see what the Children’s Team is cooking up for this year? Please
come; you are invited to the Children’s Ministry Workshop. Anita
Henderlight, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator for the Conference,
will be our guide as we look at how we minister to the children of
Broadway UMC. The workshop will begin on Wednesday, January 10,
5:30-7:30 p.m. The following two Wednesdays we will gather from
6:30-7:30 to bring our plans into focus and make plans on achieving
them. If you would like to be part of this workshop, please contact
Jenny Ottinger or Charlie Wimmer.
Toddler Nursery Volunteers
We have a fun ministry opportunity for you! Each Sunday,
our Toddler Nursery is staffed by a crew of two volunteers. Not only is
this a great chance to be with some awesome kids, it gives some parents
a chance to worship and maybe relax a bit, knowing that their child is
well cared for. We are currently working on the 2007 schedules. If you
would like to help, please contact Vicky Maslowski or Charlie Wimmer.

Upper Room Class To Sponsor Silent Auction
The Upper Room Class is once
again sponsoring a silent auction to benefit the campership fund at Camp
Wesley Woods. Because of your generosity in donating items and bidding
at our other auctions, we have sent several kids to camp who otherwise
could not afford to attend. Camp director David Leach is always very
appreciative of Broadway church and all that we do for Wesley Woods. We
will have the donated items on display at the Youth spaghetti supper on
Saturday, January 27th. Bidding will begin Saturday evening and end at
10:15 on Sunday morning. Winning bids will be announced at the 10:30
service - you may pay for and take your items after church. If you would
like to donate a basket or service to the auction, please contact
Barbara Tiller at 981-9006, Nikki Fordham at 977-4185 or Randy Allen at
982-0473. Thank you!
