“Can We Be Better?”
Paul struggled with living a life that God would have him to live. In Romans 7:19-25 we hear Paul’s struggle between the Law of God and the Law of the Flesh. With Christ guiding him, he could change for the better. We do not have to live our lives in a rut. We can be changed by the Spirit of Christ and, not only receive blessing from God, but be a blessing to others.

Sunday we will see how Christ can make us better. Patience, kindness and self-control are fruits of God’s spirit that help us develop a meaningful life. We will see examples of people who have changed. Come and receive a blessing. Come and change for the better.

                                                In Christ,

Upper Room Sponsors Silent Auction
The Upper Room class will sponsor a silent auction to benefit the campership fund at Camp Wesley Woods, February 16-17. Items will be on display and bidding will begin at the Youth Spaghetti Supper on February 16. Bidding will end at 9:30 on February 17 so that the names of the highest bidders may be announced at the 10:30 service. Please be prepared to pay for your item after the 10:30 service. We would like to ask individuals, Sunday school classes or other groups to please contribute items or services to be auctioned off for this worthy cause. Thanks to your generosity in our previous auctions, many children who could not afford to attend camp have been able to spend a week in the great outdoors learning about God and making friends. If you have any questions, please call Barbara Tiller at 981-9006 or Nikki Fordham at 977-4185.

Many Thanks
Thank you for every one involved with the Resurrection retreat this past weekend. The weather was cold but the worship was hot! The speaker, Lowell McNaey, shared with us the keys for living a “radical” life:

1. Face your giants
2. Be empowered by the Holy Spirit
3. Be fully committed
4. Be revolutionary

Great fun was had by all, even the leaders who may have stayed up later than they normally do. Thank you to our chaperones, who truly showed their faith in speech, life, and love.

Bus Service To Asbury

Each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m., the Broadway bus will be at the portico at Asbury Place of Maryville to transport residents to Broadway for Sunday School and the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The bus will return to Asbury immediately following worship. For more information, or to make special arrangements, call Millie Harris, 980-2122, or the church office, 982-6192.

Anyone interested in joining the bus driving team to help with this ministry should call Bob Ergenbright or Charlie Wimmer through the church office.

Chili Supper Planned

Citizens Against the Pellissippi Parkway Extension, Inc. (CAPPE) will have their 6th annual Chili Fest from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, in the W. R. Allen Hall here at the church. Tickets are available at Southland Books, Waste Not Want Not and from CAPPE Members. Donations in advance are $5.00, $6.00 at the door. Children under 10 are free.

Take Time
Take time to live:
it is one secret of success.

it is the source of power.
Take time to play:
it is the secret of youth.
Take time to read:

it is the foundation of knowledge.
Take time for friendship:
it is the source of happiness.
Take time to laugh:
it helps to lift life’s load.
Take time to dream:
it hitches the soul to the stars.
Take time for God:
it is life’s only lasting investment.
