Are
You Nesting In the Shade?
The parable of the mustard seed is one in which we learn
we can overcome our failures and make the most of new opportunities.
There are two things about the future of which the Bible is certain. One
is that we do not know what is going to ultimately happen next or
control it and the second is that God will guide and direct it. How will
we live in a world where the kingdom is hidden? Do we have the faith to
hope?
Persistence, patience and vision are very important to help us discover
fulfillment in life. Have you found shelter in the bush God has
provided? Sunday we will look at Mark 4:30-32. The parable of the
mustard seed is one of hope. God wants us to live in His kingdom. Come
and receive a blessing. Come and fell God’ presence and guidance.

Anthem for Sunday
This Sunday, the Chancel Choir will sing Carl Mueller’s
“Surely the Lord Is in This Place.” The anthem paraphrases texts from
Genesis 28 and Psalms 84 and 126, each praising God for His presence in
our midst. The Genesis reference quotes Jacob as he awoke from his dream
in which he witnessed a ladder to heaven, and the Lord promised him the
land on which he slept. His response was “Surely the Lord is in this
place...This is none other than the house of God and this is the gate of
heaven.” This is one of the passages that the Hebrews and present day
Jews cite to justify their presence in “The Holy Land,” also known as
Palestine.
Carl F. Mueller (1892-1982), a student of John Finley Williamson,
founder of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, was a
composer, organist, choral conductor, educator, and a highly successful
composer of choral music. His choral music has long been a favorite of
church musicians and congregations alike. This particular anthem was
composed for the dedication of a new church in Red Bank, NJ.
