“What
Makes You Angry?”
Jesus was not tolerant of sin. When He saw sin He would
speak or stand against it. When we see sin we must not forget that we
are often implicated in the evils we deplore. When speaking out or
taking a stand we must be responsible. To redeem the evils we complain
about we must put our talent and resources into action. Too just
complain can be hollow and hypocritical. What are we willing to do to
change situations?
Too get angry our issues can be difficult to confront and address. Often
our outrage can be too narrow. We are often tolerant of injustices if
they do not victimize us. We must count the cost, and see if we can make
a difference. Jesus stepped forward and paid a price for His integrity.
He gave His life to set things right in the sight of God. What makes you
angry to stand up and be counted for justice? Are you willing to let
your anger be the servant of your purpose? Stand up for the power of
what is right in the perspective of Jesus Christ.
In Christ,

Broadway
Express Williamsburg Bound
July 23-July 26, Broadway Express will journey to
Williamsburg, VA, to take in the sights, sounds, and aromas of Colonial
America. Included in this trip are additional visits to Jamestowne (the
first permanent English settlement in the New World), Monticello (the
innovative home of Thomas Jefferson), and Woodrow Wilson’s birthplace
(including his extensive presidential library and letters concerning the
League of Nations). Everyone will eat at Christina Campbell’s Tavern on
the first night in Williamsburg and, on the return trip, in Richmond at
one of the most elegant Arby’s restaurants you will ever experience.
Travelers will stay in the historic Williamsburg Hospitality House while
in the Colonial restoration area and in Staunton, at the Stonewall
Jackson Hotel where the Stonewall Jackson Brigade Band, the only
Confederate Military Band still actively performing, rehearses. Just a
note to those interested: Staunton, VA, is the home of the Statler
Brothers, which may be significant.
Cost of the four-day trip is $375 including all
lodging, admissions, and transportation. All meals and mad money are the
responsibility of the individual participants. Reservations may be made
through the church office no later than July 13 with a $100 deposit. For
more information, call either Judy Woods or Bob Ergenbright at the
church.
Hispanic Ministry Has An Immediate Need
A mission group called God’s Mountain is building a
pavilion and renovating a soccer field for the Hispanic Ministry. The
Hispanic Ministry Committee will be providing a dinner for this group on
Thursday, July 26, in the evening to show their appreciation for their
hard work. Julie Hays and Hope Bruce are putting together this simple
meal and are asking for your help. If you would like to contribute
something, please let one of them know. You can leave your food at the
church, or they can make arrangements to pick it up.
