“Spiritual
Survival”
How do you renew your spirit? What kind of spiritual
energy is flowing in you? Some people say they have to retreat or get
away. Others count their blessings and share them with others. Some
people consistently give God their time and presence in worship, and
feel a sense of renewal. We have learned it is good to vary our routines
and be spontaneous. However, should we ever take a vacation from God?
One person shared with me about a cruise they took recently. There were
over 2,000 people aboard this ship, and only 6 persons showed up for a
worship service sponsored by the cruise line.
We live in an age of pampered egos, and a consumer mentality. God wants
us to put God first, and everything else will fall into place. We should
not try to take a vacation from God. God is our spiritual power source.
We need to bear fruit. We need to think less of self and more of others.
Sunday we will look at spiritual survival. Come and worship. Come and
receive a blessing that will get spiritual energy flowing in and through
you.
In Christ,

CAN Sunday Is This Week
This Sunday, July 1, is CAN Sunday. This is the time each
month when we bring non-perishable items to Sunday school and worship to
share with our less fortunate neighbors in Blount County. Items needed
include flour, sugar, corn meal, cereal, canned vegetables and fruit,
canned tuna and other meats, shortening and cooking oil, paper products,
peanut butter and baby food. There is also a place on the container in
the narthex to leave donations for our Helping Hand fund. Please be
generous.
Hispanic Ministries Needs Our Help
The Maryville District Hispanic Ministries is growing in
leaps in bounds! Since the purchase of our trailer in Sweetwater, we
have begun weekly worship services and adult bible studies in addition
to the Hallelejah Kids club that meets weekly. We also now have a teen
girls' Bible study and a boy's basketball/soccer club that regularly
plays against Morristown's boys. The trailer has been a blessed addition
that has helped facilitate a home base for a lot of activities, but "the
inner stuff" that goes along with serving church members and friends is
still lacking. Please take a moment to look over our needs list to see
if there is something sitting around in your basement or shed that you
could dust off and donate to this worthy cause. Likewise, maybe you are
looking to make a charitable purchase for a cause close to home. We've
got some ideas for you to consider.
Needed: lawn mower, sound equipment, megaphone, monthly internet
service, musical instruments like guitars, tambourines, and drums, more
gravel for the drive, outside lighting, copy machine, color laser
printer, foldable long tables, playground equipment, easels, soccer
field (we have the land, but no capability to make the field), video
projector, Sunday School materials, someone to paint our name on our
van, someone to maintain the mowing of our land, and another van or bus.
Please contact me or Karen Neff if you are interested in donating. Thank
you so much.
