“Lost and Found”
I have forever been amazed at how we can get lost. We wander away, we follow our own self interest, we are influenced by others, and we get lost in our resentments. All of these can take us away from our relationship with God. Jesus knew this and He often taught in parables. Word pictures that demanded a decision. Sunday we will look at the parables of being lost, but they also provide hope by letting us know that God is there to find us and restore us to a right relationship. Lent is a time to reflect, but also claim the hope we find in Jesus Christ.

Come and be in community as we celebrate God’s love for us. Yes we can get lost, but God is there to bring us back. Come and be restored. Come and receive God’s blessing. See you Sunday.

                                                In Christ,

Price Increase
We have been notified that The Upper Room devotionals have gone up to $ .80 per issue. This goes into effect with the March/April issue.

Well Done, Broadway!
On Missions Sunday, our church collected about 70 food kits for the local pantries and money to cover about 20 more kits. In addition, we received a better idea of how the food programs work in Blount County and what they do with the food we give on Can Sundays. And we hope that our messages to you in the various Sunday school groups also enlightened you to all the mission work that Broadway does.

Dan gave us each a challenge: for every dollar you spend on yourself, give a dollar to help someone else. John Wesley himself lived on a tenth of his salary and gave the rest away. Let us continue to find ways to spread the news of God's love and grace in all that we do.

Thank you so much for being such a caring and giving church.

Reservations are now being accepted for this beautiful tour of our western states, lead by Pat and Ron Matthews.

On Day 1, we begin our enjoyable day by getting acquainted and talking over plans for the days ahead on our tour. We travel northwest through the “Bluegrass state” of Kentucy as we continue our first day’s journey through the state of Illinois toward our destination for the night, St. Louis, Missouri, commonly know as the “Gateway to the West.”

Day 2 could well be called “Historical Day” since we see the home of one of our former presidents. We continue through the state of Missouri to Independence where we will visit the museum of Harry S. Truman. After lunch we travel west into the state of Kansas, better know as “the breadbasket of America.”

We will have an experienced bus driver and a host for the trip. Knoxville Tour covers all the contingencies and you may truly relax and leave the driving and work to them. Get ready for a grand and exciting trip that will leave you awed by the beauty and majesty of America’s heartland, the Rocky Mountains and cowboy country.

For a full itinerary and tour reservation form, contact Judy in the church office or Bill Teffeteller at 579-9302. If you have any questions, call Bill.

We Need Your Help
The Mid-Adult Think Tank of the Holston Conference is asking all adults born between 1945 and 1975 to go on-line and take a survey which will be used by the Conference to better discern how to be in ministry with and for persons in this age group. The survey is largely based on a survey which was prepared by the General Church. To find the survey, CLICK HERE, or go to http://adultsurvey.holston.org.

The classes are all focused on teaching what it means to be called a Christian. Please keep our confirmands in your prayers for this weekend.

Help Wanted!!
The Children’s Ministry Team is looking for lots of help. We have current needs so that we can keep sharing God’s goodness with our children. Working and teaching the children is loaded with great rewards.
1. You gain confidence in your Bible knowledge.
2. You get to make an immediate and lasting impact
on the families of Broadway.
3. You get to meet our new families.
4. There are hugs and smiles to last a lifetime.
5. And there is snack time!!

We need help in many places - nursery volunteers, Sunday school teachers, VBS assistants, Sunday school assistants, and more! If you feel like this may be a way for you to help in the ministry here at BUMC, contact Charlie Wimmer, 982-4235, or Tanja McGruther, 983-2131.

With Much Appreciation
Dear Friends,
My recuperation from a broken hip has seemed long and painful, but all the cards, flowers, goodies, prayer shawl and especially the visits from you have made it bearable.
Many, many thanks
Fidelia Parham

I wish to thank the congregation of Broadway United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men for the Faithful Servant of Jesus Christ award presented to me on Sunday, February 24. It was a great surprise and an honor to receive this award. There are many people in our church who give much of themselves in service to God. It is very humbling to be spotlighted in such a way when there are so many people here doing what Jesus would have them do. I appreciate your thoughts and kind words more than I can say.
Sincerely,
Bobby Davis

A Word From The Library
Several weeks ago a Target bag appeared in the library with 4 books in it. At least two are from last year’s UMW Reading Program.

1. Children At War by P. W. Singer
2. Fifty-two Simple Ways to Make a Difference by Paul Simon
The others are:
3. Make Your Day Count (Devotions for Moms) by
Lindsey Roberts and
4. Lose It For Life by Steven Arterburn and Dr.
Linda Mintle

There was no note with these books, so I was not sure if they were meant for the library or just left there by mistake. If you left them, please call Lyn Guerdat (981-2076).

To avoid this problem, if you leave books to be donated to the church library, please leave a note. Thanks.
Lyn

Time To Spring Forward
This Saturday, March 8, when you retire for the night don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour. Daylight savings time begins during the night.

Time To Order Lilies
We will be taking orders for lilies to be placed in the sanctuary on Easter Sunday, March 23, in honor or in memory of a loved one. Order forms will be in the bulletins March 9 and 16 or you may call the church office, 982-6192. Lilies will cost $10 this year.
