“Smile, God Loves You”
Easter has come, but it must not be gone. God’s joy and peace need to be felt by us. We have been saved from sin by the gracious sacrifice of God’s Son. Now we can live a fulfilled and meaningful life. Easter joy and peace can be felt as we live in a right relationship with God.

A young lady asked me this week, “what is the biggest change I had seen in 33 years of ministry?” Without hesitation I responded, “it is the attitudes of people.” We want to be served, we want to feel good and un-bothered, we want to feel we have found favor with God. Many of these attitudes can fuel our desire for self, rather than for God. Do you care about life? Do you care about a world in need?

How do we discipline our Christian lives for service? Sunday we will look at how we receive God’s joy and peace. Life is not to be taken for granted. The joy of Easter must live on. Come and see what Paul tells us in Philippians, chapter 4. We hope to see you this Sunday after Easter.

                                                In Christ,

The Faithful Men from Fairview UMC are sponsoring the Cumberland County Playhouse production of “First Baptist of Ivy Gap” on Thursday evening, April 24, at Fairview. We have reserved 20 tickets for this play. They are $25 each. The play begins at 7:30 with the doors opening at 6:30. We will leave the church at 6:15 and return to the church following the play. Your ticket will be reserved when payment is received and is non-refundable. If you don’t drive after dark, call Judy, 982-6192, to work out arrangements.

Join us as we “meet the women of a small town Tennessee Baptist church during WWII and again a generation later. This wonderful comedy has heart and drama and features ‘six of the most wonderful characters’ you’ll ever meet!” This was first presented at the playhouse last season and was held over and sold out.

Junior And Senior High Youth Assembly
July 7-11, 2008
Cost - $140.00 (Early registration before 5/6/08)
Assembly is a week-long Conference youth event held at Hiawassee College in Madisonville, TN. Time will be spent in worship, small “family” group time, interest groups, and evening activities.

Junior highs (those finishing grades 6-8) and senior highs (those finishing grades 9-12) will be on two different tracks. This will give each group their own space to learn and grow. This event is a strong chance for spiritual growth, self esteem, meeting new friends, and an awesome chance to play and praise!

For more information contact Charlie or pick up the orange youth ministries 2008 booklet in front of Charlie’s office. You can also follow this link http://holstonconference.org/youth/assemblies.html. Charlie is planning on attending as a member of the staff for this event and transportation can be provided.
