“God Calls, We Respond”
In the book of Numbers we see Hobab, the father-in-law to Moses being asked to lead the Hebrew people through the wilderness. Moses tells him if he will do this he will be highly respected by the people. Hobab turns him down. Moses uses another approach. He tells Hobab he is needed and he can be an asset to Israel. Still Hobab is reluctant. Then Moses says, “If you will go with us, whatever good the Lord will do to us, the same will He do for you.” Hobab accepts because the blessing is going to be shared by everyone who finds God’s favor. Hobab was not impressed by a selfish reward, but he responded in faith to God’s blessing, not yet knowing what it would be.

God asks us to serve Him, and when we do we find meaning for our lives. We are a people who like to receive favor and reward, but we really do not want to serve anyone. God calls for our service. Are you willing to respond to God’s love and grace? Are you willing to serve God? Sunday we will see how Moses and the people of Israel responded to God. Come and receive a blessing.

                                               In Christ,

You may also order “in person” on Sunday, November 18. The youth will be set up in the narthex and the W. R. Allen Hall before and after worship. You may place your order then.

Did You Know?
It has been proven through statistical studies that in the average church less than 20% of the members give 80% of the money needed for the ministry and work of the church.

This means that only 20% of the members of the church are receiving most of the blessings of Christian stewardship. What a tragedy! It is through sacrificial Christian stewardship that we open the windows of heaven for God’s gifts.

These facts also mean that our church could be doing far more to share the love of Christ with others than we are doing presently if all our people would become Christian stewards.
