“Advent
Attitude”
Advent is a time to prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus
Christ. From the Hanging-of-the Greens to Christmas Eve we anticipate
the action of God breaking into our lives in human form. Christmas is
the birthday of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What kind of attitude
do you have in this time of year? Are you more positive or negative in
attitude and action? King Saul, the first King of Israel, was a brave
man, but he was the great anti-everything of his time. He lived on
negatives. He was against the isms. Anti-Moabite, anti-Hittite and anti-Gibeonite.
He lived in opposition to those around him.
How about you? Are you optimistic and tolerant? Are you against the isms
of materialism, individualism, capitalism, and hedonism? Some of these
isms we might want to oppose. Sunday, we will look at our Advent
Attitude. Are we preparing to rejoice in Christ our savior; or are we
wrapped up in opposing everything beyond ourselves? Advent is a time to
receive and share the love of God with others. Come and be blessed. Come
and see what God is doing for you!
Blessings,

school and worship to share with our neighbors in Blount County who are less
fortunate. The Cornerstone Youth collect your donations and see that they get to
one of the food pantry’s in town. Items needed include peanut butter, powdered
milk, canned fruits, vegetables and meats. Canned tuna. Boxed macaroni and
cheese, flour, corn meal, sugar, cereal, oatmeal, and baby food. There is also a
place on the container in the narthex for donations to our Helping Hand Fund.

Sunday Mornings in December, 9:30-10:15
The W. R. Allen Hall has been transformed into the city of Bethlehem.
Each Sunday during the Sunday school hour we will host the
Kindergarten-Sixth Grade kids for a Christmas VBS. There will be songs,
Bible stories and crafts.
December 2, Hanging of the Greens during
the 10:30 service.
This is a beautiful service where we transform the sanctuary as we start
the season of Advent. The children will be bringing the Chrismon
ornaments to hang on the tree.
December 19 The children will host a
Christmas pageant at 6:00 p.m. followed by a yummy potluck dinner
downstairs at 6:30. Parents, we will start gathering and do costumes
around 5:00. If you can not make it at 5:00 just get there when you can.
Practice for the pageant will be on Wednesday during the Discovery Club
time. The pageant will be easy enough for kids that can not make it to
Discovery Club to still participate, so please make plans to help us
celebrate the coming of the Christ child.
