"Commitment Isn’t Easy”
Paul realized that many persons who attended worship, really weren’t living like redeemed persons. He believed “Holy habits” would make a difference. He wanted to see people make “progress” by being led by the spirit of God. Paul knew that surrender and consistency were not easy to maintain. Sunday we will look at Paul’s call to live by the teaching of Jesus. To not use religion to justify our selfish habits and desires.

Come and realize what a relationship with God in Christ can do. We all need to be transformed and changed for a purpose. Come and be led by the grace and love of God in Christ. When Jesus calls, our lives do not necessarily become easier. Commitment is difficult to stay the course. However we can by being obedient to God’s grace and love.

                                               In Christ,

Begin thinking about ways you would like to participate in Broadway’s time during the Foothills Fall Festival, October 12-14. We will need lots of volunteers to provide hospitality services at the church during the festival. The parking lot will be filled with entertainment and a display by 10,000 Villages, a cooperative effort between Broadway and the Blount County Ecumenical Council. Plan now to volunteer for this great weekend of fun, entertainment, and outreach.

Thank You All Very Much

Dear Church Family,
I am writing to thank you all for your love and support over the past several years. It has been such a comfort for met to know that no matter what I have going on, I can always rely on your prayers. I know that I can always come home to Broadway.

The goodie boxes I received monthly served as an even stronger reminder of my Broadway family. Every time I received one in the mail, it made my day and week so much brighter! I could tell that a lot of love and thought went into each one. Plus, its always fun to get mail in college! I can’t thank you enough for everything! I love you all!
Amanda Heinrich

Hello Broadway!
I thought I’d stop by (electronically), say hello, and express how much I appreciate getting the college ministry packages! First of all, it’s not like we get much in the way of mail, anyway. And it’s always comforting to receive a gift from people you love. It reminds you that they’re thinking and caring about you even if you don’t get to talk to them regularly. It’s a huge blessing to have that comfort. God has a way of giving you what you need exactly when you need it, and I thank you guys for letting him do that for the college folk.
I love you all,

Rose Spurrier

Dear UMW ladies,
Thank you to all who helped make the Fifth Wednesday Night Meal and UMW Country Store such a success! Thank you also to Anne Travis, the Director of Connectional Ministries, for her slide show and update on Yei, Sudan.

“Invitation To Genesis” Begins Sunday
In the beginning . . .” These first words in Genesis may be among the most familiar words in the entire Bible. Many readers of the Bible recognize Genesis as a book that describes the beginning of all things: the Creation. This is certainly true but is only part of the story—the creation of the world only takes up the first two chapters of a fifty-chapter book. What are the other chapters about?

This study approaches the Book of Genesis not simply as a story of the beginning but as a story of beginnings from start to finish. Through the study, participants will be invited to listen afresh to the witness of this opening book of the Hebrew Bible and to understand more clearly God’s purpose in beginning to form a people with the likes of Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, and Jacob and Esau.

Beginning on Sunday, September 9, at 6:00pm in the Wesley Fellowship Classroom on the 4th level, the class will continue for 10 weeks ending on November 18. Bob Ergenbright, class facilitator, will have study books available at the first class. The cost of the course is $15. “Invitation to Genesis” is a part in the short term Disciple Bible Study series.
