Broadway's Knit Wits:

The Broadway Knit-Wits is a group of crafty women! We combine their passion for knitting into our own little niche of "Outreach" Ministry! We knit and crochet caps and scarves, prayer shawls, lap robes as well as other items to give away. Our mission has included sending caps and scarves to Fran Lynch, our  Alaska missionary. Likewise, we have also created items and donated them in support of the Holston Home for Children (Greenville, TN), the Wesley House Community Center (Knoxville, TN), to Bethlehem Center (Chattanooga, TN) to Blount County Fire Dept. for "Coats for the Cold", to Emerald Ave. Community Center  (Knoxville, TN), to Family Promise of Blount County, and to the Big Stone Gap District mission work in the mountains of Appalachia.

Other projects have included:

  • Prayer shawls and lap robes have gone to: Asbury Place Health Care Center, to church members and friends in the hospital, other nursing homes, homebound, and to Hospice.

  • Afghans and baby blankets were given to a safe house for women and children.

  • We participated in the "Knit A River" Project in London by sending squares of blue to be sewn together with thousands of others from around the world and carried from White Hall to No. 10 Downing Street emphasizing the need for world-wide clean water and toilet facilities before the G8 meeting.

  • We auctioned off theme baskets with handmade items and raised over $600.00 for church members going on a mission trip to Estonia.

We welcome those who knit and crochet to join us! We also encourage and welcome anyone who would like to learn. You do not have to be a member of Broadway to participate. We represent women (and men if they like!) of all ages. We promise a great opportunity for fellowship and a good time together.

Broadway's Knit Wits meet on Mondays at 10:00AM in "The Parlor" at Broadway.

"Love also with thy hands for Work is grateful unto the Lord."
