Broadway’s United Methodist Men
is a is a cross generational,
creative, supportive fellowship of men whose primary purpose is to help
its members know God, grow spiritually, and seek His will daily. Members
are encouraged to participate in the total life of the church and to
declare the centrality of Christ in their lives and in all their
relationships. |

Membership is open to all male members of the congregation and the community.
Meetings are held on the Second Saturday of each month, except during the summer months of June and July. Meetings are held at Asbury Place (formerly Asbury Acres in Maryville) and begin at 8:30AM. Meetings include a devotional, and from time to time a program that may include a guest speaker, or a discussion forum of issues that affect the Christian male. After the meetings the group will come together to work on one of their various projects at Camp Wesley Woods, Asbury Place, or at the church.
Fundraising - To assist in their efforts, UMM holds three annual fundraisers that have proved to be successful. These include two annual Golf Tournaments and the annual Pancake Breakfast
Pancake Breakfast This is the main UMM fund-raising event of the year. It is always held at the church on the first Saturday in December to coincide with the Maryville/Alcoa Christmas parade. This festive event features all-you-can eat regular or (our now famous) blueberry pancakes. Sausage and orange juice round out the menu. After the breakfast, everyone proceeds to the church steps to enjoy a front row seat of the parade. A major portion of the proceeds is donated to the church's scholarship fund.
Fall/Spring Golf Tournament Join in the fun and fellowship of the United Methodist Men’s Golf Tournaments. These events happen twice during the year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring.

As in every home, certain needed tasks are neglected as a result of hectic schedules. Churches are no exception. During the spring, the UMM gather on a Saturday morning to perform these needed tasks; such as minor repairs, painting, and general yard-work. It's a time to spruce up the interior and exterior of our church. In addition, the UMM has worked at Camp Wesley Woods where they cut up fallen trees and at Asbury Place in Maryville where they sanded and refinished the park benches. They also put up and take down the Nativity scene at Asbury Place in Maryville each Christmas season.
A church cannot function with only a paid staff. Many volunteers are needed to keep the church alive and growing. Several of our members give freely of their time and talents serving others and living a life representative of a true Christian. Every year, the UMM honor a member from our congregation who represents the true nature of a Christian servant, but who have not been recognized for their service to others. Nominations are received from the congregation at large. The UMM then vote to make the award
and it is presented in January annually.
