A SPECIAL WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION TO OUR VISITORS & FRIENDS

Dear Friends:

The people of the Broadway United Methodist Church of Maryville are happy to be in service for Jesus Christ. The church has been part of the downtown landscape since 1899. We enjoy being a part of one of the nicest cities in Tennessee. We are not one of the largest churches, but we are one of the finest. Our mission statement is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, service, witness, and study. We have opportunities in all of these areas.

If you are looking for a church home where you can be involved, we would love to meet you. We have Sunday School classes for all age groups. We have contemporary and traditional worship. We have children, youth, and music ministries. We have a Parents Day Out program for preschoolers. We are always looking for new partners on the Christian Pilgrimage.

The people of Broadway have a trademark of enjoying one another. Being a downtown church we want to meet the needs of those in distress, both spiritually and physically. Come and worship with us. Come and be in mission with us. Come and find a home here at Broadway, with Jesus as our guide.

In Christ,

Rev. Laura R. Rasor

Pastor

Welcome to Broadway United Methodist Church! We are just a few miles south of Knoxville in Blount County; nestled in the beautifully appointed downtown business district of Maryville, Tennessee. We offer a wholesome, and spiritually enriched, environment for you and your family, to worship and serve.

If we had to describe your worship experience at Broadway, we would use the word "Nurturing" The American Heritage Dictionary defines nurture, as follows: nur-tured, nur-tur-ing, nur-tures. 1. To nourish; feed. 2. To educate; train. 3. To help grow or develop; cultivate: nurture a student's talent. Looking to  find a more spiritual definition, we need only to lo look at the following words in John 21:15-17 (RSV): When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." A second time He said to him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep."

Nurturing is a unique word in that it sums up what the many ministries and the people of Broadway are all about. It more than adequately describes our mission here, and who we as a church family. Nurturing: to do as Jesus commanded of Simon..."Feed my sheep." Throughout this site, we have endeavored to give you an idea of the nurturing that goes on here at Broadway. We encourage you to take a look to see where you and perhaps your family may be spiritually fed, or where you can offer your gifts and talents to help to nurture others.

Thank You for visiting our site. We invite you to come worship with us and be part of our celebration of Christ here at Broadway. We pray that God richly blesses your life and that of those you love. If you happen to be passing through the Great Smoky Mountains, or find yourself here in East Tennessee, please do consider the opportunity to fellowship with us here at Broadway United Methodist Church... "A great place to worship, and serve in God's name!"
