Clergy and Staff Hospital Visitation

The Pastor, designated clergy and Visitation Team visit the sick that are known to us in area hospitals each week. It is very important for our members to indicate their church preference upon admission to the hospital in order for us to know of your hospitalization. We very much want to care for you, so please call the church office (865) 982-6192

Parish Community Nurse

The Health Care Ministry is composed of members of our congregation that are health care providers and laity who volunteer their time and/or resources to help the congregation of BUMC and the community achieve optimal health and well-being. This is attained with blood drives, immunization clinics, skin cancer screenings, glucose screenings, blood pressure screening, CPR certifications, first aid kits on campus, first aid rooms as scheduled events, and health tips in the church's monthly newsletter.

Ministry to the Bereaved

Our pastors are on call to care, comfort, offer consolation and compassion to the dying and their families. They also are available for assistance with funerals. We have a lay ministry within the church, which offers assistance and encouragement during time of grief. They often assist families with a prepared meal given by lay persons in the church.

Grief Share

The death of a spouse, child, family member or friend is devastating. The grieving process can be lengthy and intense, and even mature Christians need on-going comfort and encouragement during the grieving period. We are here for you.

Intercessory Prayer

The place of intercessory prayer in one's recovery or daily walk cannot be overstated. James 5:16 exhorts us to "pray for each other that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results."

Broadway has many intercessors and a number of prayer groups. To add a name to the prayer list, call the church office (865) 982-6192, or use the form provided under Prayer Ministry on the church website: http://www.broadwayumc.net/prayer_requests.htm.

During the closing hymn of our Sunday worship services, you are welcome to come to the altar for a time of prayer. If you desire someone to pray with you, please speak to the pastor. A special service of healing is conducted regularly and is announced in the bulletin. Communion is served on the first Sunday at The Rejuvenation Station (8:30AM) Service and as scheduled for Morning Worship and other special services.
