Broadway values its outreach mission program and supports it with donations, service, prayers, and Volunteers in Mission trips.  Below are listed some of the missions we support:

Teams have gone to the island of Saaremaa to the cities of Kuresaare and Rekula to aid in building improvements on the churches and to participate in the spiritual life of the churches. Over the years, Broadway has been active in the Baltic Mission Center construction effort and in support for the island churches.

The picture on the right will you a great idea of the work, the camaraderie as well as the fellowship of this all important mission. Please enjoy the pictures and visit the Friends of Estonia website.

Mississippi Mission Team:

During the hurricane season of 2005, the Gulf Coast was devastated beyond anything that has ever been seen there before. Many people died, many lost their homes, their way of living. While Hurricane Katrina unleashed her havoc in a manner of hours, it will take many years before the various locations on the gulf coast will ever recover.

In the summer of 2006 a group from Broadway and Kingston UMC participated in a Holston Conference sanctioned Mission Trip to Mississippi. The team of 12 volunteers joined together with residents and members of Byrd's Chapel UMC (our host congregation), to help restore Newton's Chapel UMC in Crossroads, Mississippi (near Poplarville), a church that was ravaged as a result of the hurricane.

Mexico Medical Mission

Each spring about 40 volunteers from throughout the Holston Conference participate in the Mexico Medical Mission, bringing medical care to over 1700 persons in two remote villages, Tatoxcac and Ixtepec, in the Eastern Sierra Madre Mountains. Broadway has supported this mission with volunteers and funding for several years. This short-term team is led by former pastor, Jim Dougherty, and Dr. Paul Brown of Johnson City. The 2008 dates are May 6th thru May 12th. For further information,

The pictures displayed on the right show our surroundings going to and from the Mexican villages as well as the many people that were serviced by the medical clinics that we set up.

Alaskan Mission:

Broadway supports Fran Lynch in her ministry in the uplands of Alaska. Ms. Lynch grew up in Holston Conference in Tennessee where her father is a retired minister. She graduated form Muray State University in KY, and Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, TN. She was commissioned a Deaconess in the Untied Methodist Church in 1986.

She has served in a variety of settings since then, including Henderson Settlement in the Red Bird Missionary Conference in Kentucky; Open Door Community House in Columbus, GA; and Brevard College, a United Methodist school in Brevard, NC. Her husband JD, serves with the Alaska Army National Guard. To learn more

Liberia:

The church supports Operation Classroom, a mission ministry of the Holston Annual Conference, through teams and salary support for missionaries Herbert and Mary Zigbuo. This Spring, 2007, The congregation came together and joined with the Holston Conference to make up School Kits for the children of Liberia. England

We are fortunate to have an ongoing relationship with our friends living in Great Britain. To date there have been two, or three trips between England and Tennessee and have some wonderful experiences to share in our Christian fellowship.

Be sure to visit this web page to see and share the experiences that God has provided for us through this fellowship and friendship.

Not to be outdone by the adults in our congregation, the Youth here at Broadway are learning, living and leading "The WAY" when it comes to their own global outreach and mission work. In this segment, we highlight two of many projects that they participated in this year.

Project Crossroads:

Project Crossroads is a ministry in Southwest Virginia for home improvement for people who could not otherwise afford the work.  Our youth have gone to Smyth County, VA, for the last 14 years to participate in this ministry.

In the pictures on the right, you some of our youth working diligently on various projects. They have helped to rehabilitate homes and worked on other various projects over the years. It provides them with a great opportunity to learn, to work, to share and to fellowship while serving Christ and their fellow man.

What our children are to be, they are now becoming, and opportunities like Project Crossroads is a great avenue to assure that what they are becoming is a testament to love of Christ.

Sweetwater Hispanic Ministry:

While others were off enjoying the sunshine and the beauty of a perfect day, directly after church, a few members of our Broadway Youth along with a dedicated group of adults climbed into their vehicles and away they went to Sweetwater. Once at Sweetwater, TN, they answered a call to mission, by tearing out an old dilapidated structure and building a porch on the United Methodist Hispanic Mission Offices, and Worship Center.

There were no public relations cameras, and no press coverage. These youth quietly went in and did what had to be done for "our neighbors" and friends. The picture presentation on the left, shows some of the members of our Youth Ministry in action as they diligently go about their work.

We at Broadway are extremely proud of our young people, their zeal and their desire to Lead the way and Live the way of the cross. We applaud them on their efforts we strongly encourage and support them at every opportunity. We pray that God will continue to be "The WAY" in their lives.
